Little by little

After reading a lot (and procrastinating even more ;) ) it finally seems like some things in my thesis research are beginning to make sense. I am more and more able to read stuff without looking up dozens of cross-references and keywords every other minute! Now I start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, although it’s just a tiny spot and still a long way ahead…
My linux-on-the-laptop project is also coming along quite well — after several days I eventually managed to get hardware 2D acceleration for the graphical user interfact up and running. Some other parts like the wireless network need some more attention though, so I’ll have something to toy around with when I find some free time in the evenings… :P
I am currently also spending some thought on what to do after finishing the Master’s programme here. Given that I just started my thesis one might consider that a little early, but as some dealines are already this December it’s advisable to look into this as soon as possible. Anyway, what I’d probably like best is getting into a PhD/Dr. programme. I will naturally investigate the options here at Chalmers and back in Aachen, buy I’ve also found some interesting opportunities elsewhere. Unfortunately some of those require some other standardised test besides the common TOEFL (which is for the Englich language), the GRE (which is more about academic requirements, although it’s in English), hence I have just signed up for that. Annoyingly you can’t take it in Sweden, so I’ll fly with Ryan Air to Frankfurt on Nov 22nd, take the test on the 23rd and fly back here on the 24th, a short and sweet trip… So now besides working on my thesis I’ll also have to study for that test as well, great. ;)
